We got to meet our new grandson Everett - 4 weeks old - yesterday! What a joy! My son, Kipp, and his wife, Rebecca, came from 5 hours away to her parents' for the weekend, just a couple of interstate exits away from us. We had a wonderful lunch and the whole afternoon to hold him and see who he looks like. I brought Kipp's baby pictures to compare him to. He looks very much like Kipp with Rebecca's brown eyes and dark hair. He is a sweet, contented baby ... only cries when he is hungry or if you take his pacifier away to take a picture.
We still have some beautiful colors here and there, like these trees at my workplace.
But we've had a lot of wind and two days of hard rain this week, so many of the leaves have danced off the trees to the ground.
Yesterday I took this photo of some trees at our mall where my husband and I go to walk every evening. I don't like winter much but there's one blessing of having the leaves gone ... as we're driving around, we can see beautiful mountain views that have been hidden all summer.

There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says:
I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know it's true
You're a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you're covered with the fingerprints of God
So look around you and see where YOU can see God's fingerprints. Is it in nature? Kids? Animals? Where do you see them? To find out how to join "Fingerprint Friday" and see links to other posts, visit Beki at The Rusted Chain.
My husband and I were driving around downtown Asheville yesterday, shopping and meeting some friends for lunch. Just had to take a few photos of some of the gorgeous trees. Quick, before all the leaves are gone! The wind has already taken a lot down, and as soon as it rains, they will be gone. I wish autumn would last a little longer......like maybe through March. :)
So much to be thankful for this week! Our autumn color is at its peak. Above are some pretty trees on the campus where I work, and below are some spectacular maples in South Asheville I spotted on the drive home a couple of days ago.
This splendid tree was lit up by the setting sun, as I left church last Sunday night. I love how the moon is visible in the sky too.
Last weekend we went to three of the grandkids' soccer games and their other grandma came too. Two teams won and one tied, so it was a fantastic day for proud grandparents to be there! The "cow" from Chik-Fil-A showed up at the girls' games in the morning, handing out coupons, so of course that's where we went for lunch in between games, which was fun.

This morning my son helped me with using my webcam for the first time, on Gmail chat, and I was able to see my new grandbaby moving and hear him making sweet baby noises. Wow!
He had his eyes open for awhile and we were able to have our first "talk." He is almost three weeks old and has gained over a pound, now weighing 8 lbs. 9 oz.
I guess all the activity of being on camera live wore him out because he fell fast asleep.
God's been busy with his autumn paintbrush. This is one of the beautiful bushes on the grounds of my workplace that turns red during the fall season. I think it is called Burning Bush. Anyone know?
Just this week the leaves have started turning red here and there, like these trees in our yard.

Here are the words to one of the songs we sing at church and the words really touch my heart...especially as we're enjoying the changing of the seasons, from summer into fall. In our yard, we have flowers blooming and leaves falling.
