Look what I won!

I won this cool switch plate cover, handmade of polymer clay, from a blog drawing. It was made by Mosaico and given away on her blog.

I got to choose which one I liked best from her etsy shop. It's called Petroglyph Warriors. It's in my craft room where I can enjoy it every day!

Here are some more of her beautiful creations. She makes tags, envelopes and magnets too. Click on any photo to go to the listing in her etsy shop. (If you need a different size switch plate, just ask.)

Fingerprint Friday - the Glasswing Butterfly

There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says:
I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know it's true
You're a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you're covered with the fingerprints of God

I got an email this week about the Glasswing Butterfly of South America and had never heard of this type of butterfly before. I saved it for my Fingerprint Friday this week, to show God's amazing handiwork.

Here's what the email said:
Just one of God's Wonders, the Glasswing Butterfly lives in South America. A butterfly with transparent wings is rare and beautiful. As delicate as finely blown glass, the presence of this rare tropical gem is used by rain forest ecologists as an indication of high habitat quality and its demise alerts them of ecological change. Rivaling the refined beauty of a stained glass window, the translucent wings of the Glasswing Butterfly shimmer in the sunlight like polished panes of turquoise, orange, green, and red.

All things beautiful do not have to be full of color to be noticed; in life that which is unnoticed has the most power.

Memorial Day Tribute

Honoring those who have fallen for our country and especially in memory of my father-in-law who served in the Air Force including several years in Viet Nam, here is one of my favorite poems:

Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep - Mary Frye (1932)

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow;
I am the softly falling snow.

I am the gentle showers of rain;
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush;
I am in the graceful rush.

Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.

I am the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.

Steven Curtis Chapman's family suffered a tragic loss this week when their 5 year old daughter, Maria, died as she was accidentally hit as she ran into the path of the SUV driven by her older brother in their driveway. Maria is the one in her daddy's lap in the photo.

I cannot begin to imagine what the Chapman family is going through. I pray for the son who must be feeling agonizing guilt, that God will help him to find peace. Here is an angel for Maria, and I'm asking God to put his angels around the Chapman family and help them during this time of grief.

Winged Heart Pendant and Believe Brooch

I had a lot of fun over the weekend, making two custom orders through my Etsy shop. The first customer sent me the above artwork, and asked me to make a pendant. Here was the first version:

She didn't like the white accents and asked me to remove them. Here is the final piece (it's about 2" in diameter):

Another customer asked me to make her a pin with the word "believe" in earth tones and blue, with swirls. It's about 2" tall...
