Fingerprint Friday - New family members!

There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says:

I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know it's true
You're a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you're covered with the fingerprints of God

Where do you see God's fingerprints? In nature? kids? animals? They are all around us!

My fingerprint of God this week is my grandchildren's new cousins!

My daughter-in-law's sister and her husband recently spent almost three months in Ukraine (which necessitated two trips back and forth from the USA), adopting 3 siblings from an orphanage. What a beautiful thing to do, and what a challenge for a couple who are about 40 and have never had any children!

Many, many people were praying for them during the frustrating, anxiety-filled weeks which necessitated visiting a number of orphanages to find healthy siblings, then traveling back and forth between the small town to visit the children at the orphanage and Kiev to go to the courthouse (and McDonald's!), dealing with documents and forms to be signed and signed again, court dates, medical exams, and a missed plane home because they didn't have one form they needed. Thank God, they finally arrived safe and sound.

We were so excited to get to meet them this week when they came to visit their new grandma and grandpa! Here they are with their new mom...a boy, age 6, and a girl, age 13, and the little boy in the background, age 3, who is always busy running. We spent the day with our three grandchildren (8, 6 and 3) and these three, then came home and collapsed!!! :)

Here is Oksana, braiding my granddaughter's hair.

Custom Cat Pendant

This was a special order I made this week for a lovely customer who had gotten one of her own cat for herself several months ago and now wanted one of her mother's cat for her mom. What a beautiful cat!

It's always a challenge to make it look as much as possible like the photo and I try to make them look cute too. At first, I blended several shades of grey but somehow it didn't come out right. I tend to be a perfectionist and would make them 100 times and never be happy, so I always have to have a little talk with myself and remember that it is a REPRESENTATION out of clay, only God can make the real thing. So I lightened up, and just used one shade of silver/grey. I think on this one as long as that "spot" is on the nose, the rest doesn't have to be so realistic. When I sent her a photo for her approval, she loved it, and that's the most important thing.

These sweet photos were in an email I received a few days ago. God's fingerprints are found in my family, and these photos make me want to run and cuddle and hug them!

Fingerprint Friday - Amazing Icebergs

Amazing striped icebergs

Icebergs in the Antarctic area sometimes have stripes, formed by layers of snow that react to different conditions. Blue stripes are often created when a crevice in the ice sheet fills up with melt water and freezes so quickly that no bubbles form. When an iceberg falls into the sea, a layer of salty seawater can freeze to the underside. If this is rich in algae, it can form a green stripe.

Brown, black and yellow lines are caused by sediment, picked up when the ice sheet grinds downhill towards the sea.

God sure paints with a pretty brush!!!

New creations!

Fat Pink Bird Pendant

I've been having fun playing with my clay and have made some new pieces! These are all available in my etsy shop.

Moon & Stars in a Rainbow Brooch

These flower pendants have a very shiny finish and look like dichroic/fused glass.

Dancing Daisies

Custom orders are always welcome, if you'd like something similar in a different color or as a pin instead of a pendant etc.
