Fingerprint Friday - Introducing...

Everett Abraham, our beautiful new grandson, born on Wednesday ... 7 lbs. 8 oz. and 21" long. Thanks be to God for a perfect and healthy baby.

Everett is my daughter-in-law's middle name after her grandpa, and Abraham is in memory of my maternal grandfather which makes me very happy.

They live about five hours away. We will meet him soon. Can't wait to hold him! (More pictures below.)

Children's children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children. ~ Proverbs 17:6

I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know it's true
You're a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you're covered with the fingerprints of God

New grandbaby!

Our beautiful new grandbaby has arrived! He was born at 6:58 this morning - 7 lbs. 8 oz., 21 inches long. Amazingly, he was born exactly on his due date which happens only 5% of the time. My son and daughter-in-law are still deciding on a name. They are 5 hours away, so we haven't yet figured out when we will go meet him, but it will be soon!

This is my oldest son, Scott, holding his new nephew. He is only 2 hours away so he drove to see them this afternoon. He taught his younger brother how to change a diaper. :-)

I'll let you know the name as soon as they decide. And we'll have many more pictures.

New shop on ArtFire - Geek Sheek

Check out our new ArtFire shop, "Geek Sheek" - featuring jewelry made of recycled electronic parts to save them from going to the landfill.

My husband has acquired hundreds of resistors and capacitors - some vintage, some new - over the past few months that he's selling on Ebay, and we decided to make some jewelry out of the really pretty ones and cool ones. They make especially fun gifts for someone who works with computers or electronics.

Fingerprint Friday - Autumn Abundance

Some of the tall bushes on the grounds at my workplace have produced these lush and beautiful berries in the last week. Does anyone know what these are called? This is one of the first signs of autumn, along with just a few leaves here and there starting to turn red and yellow.

Joel 2:23
Rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given you the autumn rains in righteousness. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains.

First Craft Show of the Season

I had a booth in the Waterfall Crafters Show in Brevard, NC, this past Friday and Saturday and did pretty well. Here is my teen friend Alexis modeling a hemp necklace and bracelet set that she purchased from me. Doesn't she look pretty? She and her family made all the food available for sale at the show...sausage biscuits for breakfast and soup and sandwiches and desserts for lunch. It's a great group of vendors and always fun!

Fingerprint Friday - Scrabble, anyone?

So how can a Scrabble game be a Fingerprint of God, you ask? It's not nature... it's not a person... it's not an animal. No, it's just a board and a bunch of letters.

Well, to me, it represents life-long friendship. I had a best friend in the 8th and 9th grade in Illinois named Marsha. We did everything together. One of our favorite games was Scrabble.

In the middle of the school year in 9th grade, her dad got transferred and they moved away to Indiana. We always stayed in touch through the years, at least with an annual Christmas card and occasional phone call and a visit once in a blue moon. Then, email came along and we stayed in touch more often. Then this past year, we found each other on Facebook and she discovered our favorite game there - Scrabble! So now we are constantly playing Scrabble. One game ends and we immediately start a new one.

I must admit I'm obsessed! First thing when I get up in the morning and the minute I get home from work (my poor husband), I have to see if she got a bazillion point word, or if I still have a chance! LOL The greatest feeling is to use all 7 letters in one turn and get 50 extra points (ahem, see "styraxes" and "boonies" in photo). One time, she used her 7 letters along with one already on the board, and was able to start on a triple word score AND end on a triple word score and get about 150 points. That's the biggest score so far. Someday I'm determined to get one of those too!!!!

Pictured is our current game and I'm doing really well in this one. The last one - she creamed me. The fun continues, and I am so thankful to God for my life-long friend.

Young men and women too, old and young alike, Let them all praise the Lord's name, for His name alone is exalted, majestic above earth and heaven. - Psalm 148: 12-13

Fingerprint Friday - Happy Birthday to Calvin!

My grandson Calvin celebrated his 12th birthday last weekend!!! What a precious gift from God!!! I have so many reasons to be proud of him: he makes straight A's at a private school, is a tremendous athlete (tennis, soccer, baseball, swimming), plays piano beautifully and is an amazing amateur magician. He's a lot of fun to be around.

Here he is with brother Stewart, 13. What a joy it is to watch these guys growing up!

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. - Psalm 37:4
