Fingerprint Friday - Thankfulness

Last Saturday I was on my way home from a craft show about 45 minutes away, and almost made it home. About three miles from our house, there is a 4-way stop with stop signs and a blinking red light. However, on one side which was to my left when I stopped, there is a blind curve. I didn't see the car coming, and the driver was from out of town and didn't see the stop sign till too late. We intersected smack dab in the middle of the intersection. BAM!

I have a Subaru which has tough sides which are protective of people inside the car. My only injury was that during the impact, my head hit back against the headrest and I have a sore neck. The other driver, 19 years old, and her passenger friend were unhurt. When I think of all the things that could have happened, I am very, very thankful.

A couple of passer-bys stopped to help. One of them called 911 and the fire department and highway patrol came within minutes. Another one stayed by my car and talked to me, which I greatly appreciated, till my husband and son could get there. I think the emotional trauma is the worst...it's such a scary thing to be hit! You are kind of in a daze for awhile and it's hard to take in.

The other driver does have good insurance that will take care of all my expenses.

When I complained of my neck hurting, my husband said we needed to go to the ER, so after going home to get something to eat because I was starving, we headed to the hospital. I had a cat scan which showed that nothing was broken or torn, thank God.

To top the whole thing off, on the way home, we were stopped by a cop who said we didn't have our rear lights on. We didn't know they weren't working. My husband explained about the wreck...and the hospital...so he let us go with a "verbal warning" and asked us to put on our flashers the rest of the way home.

Since we can't open the driver's door and whoever is driving has to get in on the passenger side and crawl over the console (a little much for us at our ages!), we got a rental car till we can get the car fixed. It has an Alabama tag so I am driving around "incognito." :)

I did go to work Monday-Thursday because I had a lot I needed to do this week. I was thankful that it was not my week to drive in the carpool so I could rest on the way to and from work. It was hard to make it through the day, because my neck hurts and I get tired really easily. I'm seeing a physical therapist at my workplace who gave me some exercises to do, which will help the healing process. And now I have my 3-day weekend to rest.

Thank you, Lord, for keeping me safe and the other driver safe. It could have been so much worse.

There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says:
I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know it's true
You're a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you're covered with the fingerprints of God

So look around you and see where YOU can see God's fingerprints. Is it in nature? Kids? Animals? Where do you see them? To find out how to join "Fingerprint Friday" and see links to other posts, visit Beki at The Rusted Chain.
